IELTS Writing Task 1 Guidelines

 


1. IELTS recommends allocating no more than 20 minutes to Writing Task 1, but the management of time is at your discretion.

2. Aim to write over 150 words for this task.

3. IELTS Writing Task 1 contributes approximately 33% to your overall writing score.

4. Evaluation criteria include:

   - Task Achievement (25%)

   - Coherence & Cohesion (25%)

   - Vocabulary (25%)

   - Grammar (25%)

5. Academic Writing Task 1 involves reporting on various visuals such as bar charts, line graphs, pie charts, tables, maps, or diagrams/processes. 

6. General Training Writing Task 1 focuses solely on letter writing.
